Why kitloom has no free version
People ask why kitloom costs money from day one, and why there's no free basic edition to start with. Here's the honest answer.
What I don't want to do to you
You know how it goes. You open an app because there's something you need to get done right now. You sign up, log in, spend your time and go through step after step, and you still haven't worked out whether you need this app at all. Then, in the middle of the job, it stops and asks you to pay a large sum for a whole year up front.
And most of the time you pay. You came to finish something, you've already put the time in, so you buy it on the spot. A while later you're wondering why you needed it.
That bothers me every time it happens to me. I don't mind paying for something once I know I need it. What I mind is paying before I can tell.
So everything is visible first
You can see everything kitloom does before you pay anything:
- The demos. One click gives you a Filament or Nova sandbox of your own with every module and theme. You don't sign up or give an email address, and you don't need a card.
- The documentation, all of it: how the core works, every module's guide with its video lessons, and how to write a theme or a module.
And then the decision is yours
I could have made a free basic edition, but then I'd be deciding which parts of kitloom to hold back so you'd want the rest. I'd rather sell the whole thing and trust the person buying it.
So here's how it works. You buy kitloom, install it on your own site and your own WordPress database, read the code and build something with it. If it doesn't do what you expected, or you don't like how it's written, or it just doesn't fit how you see your application, write to us within 14 days and you get the full amount back. You don't have to give a reason, and nobody will try to argue you out of it. The terms are on the Refunds page.
I'm completely fine with refunds. I'm not hiding them in small print or hoping nobody asks.
What I'm doing is leaving the judgement with you, the developer. After you've used kitloom on your own project, ask yourself honestly whether it was worth what you paid. If it wasn't, ask for your money back, and you'll get it.
